Acupressure, an ancient healing art, uses the fingers to skillfully press key points that stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities. Acupressure and acupuncture use the same pressure points and meridians; acupressure uses gentle to firm pressure, while acupuncture employs needles. I use acupressure therapy in conjunction with Swedish, myofascial release, and deep tissue massage to enhance their therapeutic value.

Swedish massage is the relaxing, stress-reducing type of massage most people think about when they want a massage. Swedish massage combines oils or lotions with an array of strokes -- gliding, kneading, and percussive strokes, as well as, stretching, joint movement, gentle shaking, and rocking.

Swedish massage is usually a full-body massage, but can I focus on one area of your body, such as the back or shoulders.

Deep Tissue Massage is used to provide a more therapeutic effect by massaging all layers from superficial (closer to the skin) to deep (closer to the bone). It relaxes the muscles, rids them of built-up metabolic waste, and helps release adhesions between muscles and connective tissues. It can also be useful in preventing scar tissue build up from injuries to muscles and connective tissues. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries.

Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is common after deep tissue therapy, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.

Golfer's Massage: combines Swedish, Deep Tissue and Joint mobilization. Golf can hard on the body and often exacerbates old injuries. Golfer's massage can enhances performance by helping to prevent injury, reduce pain and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and improve injury recovery rate.

Athlete's Massage: let me work with you to develop a massage regime that will enhance your performance for tennis, running, cycling, equestrian and dance, etc.

Detoxification Massage (MLD - Manual Lymphatic Draining) is a form of massage that stimulates the lymphatic system with gentle massaging strokes. The light rhythmical massage encourages the lymphatic system to eliminate metabolic waste products, excess fluid and bacteria.

The technique was invented by massage therapists Dr Emil and Mrs. Estrid Vodder in the early 1930s.

The effects of Manual Lymph Drainage are numerous and include general benefits to the nervous and muscular systems. MLD is a great addition to other detox measures, as it encourages fluid flow in the connective tissues.

I offer a variety of combinations massages tailored to meet the specific needs of each client.  The three most popular combos and their prices are listed.  Additional modalities and time can be added.

Chair massage or seated massage is performed while the client remains fully clothed and seated in a specially designed massage chair. The massage chair allows the massage therapist to massage the client's head, neck, back, and arms in a typical 10-15 minute session. The high portability of the massage chair and the fact that client's are fully clothed means that massage sessions can be completed nearly anywhere.

Corporate, business or event (festival, fairs, etc) only.
